Hours slipping away

The days lately have been going by so quickly and the hours slip away faster than I can handle.  The days have begun to blend into one another and I’m losing grasp of my control.

Work is going well.  I am actually lucky if I get 40 hours so I am getting done with work a little earlier than I used to.  I’m really not complaining about that!  The money is nice but I like getting out earlier more.  That means more time to spend with my little guy.

An update on the house situation!  We are staying where we are for at least another year.  It’s not what we had planned but when the landlord offered us a deal we couldn’t refuse and would be foolish to pass up, we decided to stay.  Basically, we will be buying this yucky trailer for $1.00.  Yes, that says $1.00 and is not a typo.  Where can you buy a house (our version of a house) for that cheap?!?!  Now, this place does need work and we will be putting money into it but we will also be saving tons more money this way than to rent to own a home.  In this next year, we can save more and improve our credit so that we can buy a house.  Then, we will be able to rent this place out and get some income coming in that way.  It’s a win win situation if you ask us.  We will be doing a lot over the next year to improve this place and we are excited to do it.

Chuckie is still doing well in football and I am so impressed with his drive and motivation.  Last week was scary for us, very scary.  I thought that taking my boys to the ER for stitches was awful. That is nothing in comparison to seeing your son get speared in the back during a play and having him lay motionless on the field for seven minutes.  Seven minutes that I swear to the heavens lasted at least an hour!  After about two minutes of him laying there, I was asking someone to hold me back from jumping over the fence to run out on the field.  I was sure that I was going to throw up so I had to stand next to the garbage can!  After about six minutes, Chuck said he’d had enough and started to run out on the field…this was after they picked up Chuckie’s arm and it fell limp back to the ground!  At that point, he got up and they were walking him back to the sideline.  He was okay but got hit very hard in the back with a helmet.  He was shaken up and having trouble breathing so he took a puff from his inhaler.  He was doing better but Chuck told him he was done playing for the day.  Chuckie wouldn’t have it and he went back out!  This is a tough call for us to make.  While we are worried and scared that he isn’t okay, he knows how he feels and if he feels that he is okay to play, well then he is playing.  They did watch him run and did good stretching with him before he could go out.  The paramedic who is in the league, did tell us to watch him for 24 to 48 hours for any symptoms of kidney or spleen rupture.  That sounds really scary but she told us that just in case.  Anyway, he went back in the game and took it slowly and easily.  He did a few blocks, but not any tackles or running the ball….at least at first.  Then, he was getting the ball and getting some short carries then he did run in a touchdown from about 40 yards out.  Then he threw a very nice pass!  He was back!  He recovered quickly and has been doing fine ever since.   We did get him some rib pads that will now protect his ribs and back.  That will help with preventing future injuries.  His reputation is starting to build up.  When we went to a birthday party, the parents were coming up to me telling me that they had heard that he was quite the star!  Surprisingly, he isn’t letting all of this go to his head.  He isn’t walking around saying that he is great or a star but he does feel proud of what he is doing.  He is very modest just like his dad was when he played.  Thank goodness!

One other thing that I am enjoying is the fact that many of our family members have gone to Chuckie’s games.  We have had the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins all attend his games.  He has quite the following!  Plus, tomorrow we will have two of our friends and their spouses at the game.  It is so nice to have friends that are close enough to want to watch your kid play in a sport. That is friendship!!

Life is hectic and I go a little crazy trying to keep up, but life is good.  Very good.  Have a great weekend!

Sounds like it will be worthwhile to wait it out until next year with the house situation. I hope everything goes smoothly!

OMG, I was freaking out just reading about Chuckie laying there… I would have been pounding people out of my way to get on the field, lol… I suppose that’s what I have to look forward to, with two boys! There’s nothing I would love more than for them to play sports if they enjoy it (especially football – my dad’s a coach and it’s in our blood) but I’m probably going to worry too much! I’m so glad Chuckie is ok after that scare. He is one tough kid. Sounds like a great team player and I can only imagine how proud you & Chuck are of him. I wish him luck and no more bad hits the rest of the season!!!
