Keeping My Head Above Water

Hello!  I started my job this week and it’s going well, really it is.  The people are really nice and helpful.  The customers coming into the cafeteria are very nice.  The job itself is not hard at all.  I don’t get too stressed in work situations too easily though.

Juggling the kids, the job and housework hasn’t been too bad either.  The kids go next door at 6am then they fall asleep usually until 9 or so (that’s what I’m told!) and then I get home around 3:30-3:45pm.  When I get home, I have been throwing a load of laundry in.  I have set up a laundry schedule and posted it.  Each person has a day for their laundry.  They have to bring their laundry to the washer on their day and I will do their one load.  This alleviates having to do laundry all weekend when I am supposed to be relaxing.

I also have been making dinner when I get home because as if that all wasn’t enough, I go to the gym in the evenings now too.  I am actually leaving here in ten minutes or so to go to my hip hop class.

I can see that this job will be a good one and I will last here.  My only complaint is that the people who are in charge are very disorganized and do not communicate with each other.  I have yet to fill in my paperwork (hello…don’t I need to fill in the W-2 forms?!) I just got my uniform shirt today after another co-worker went and got it for me.  I reminded the two ladies in charge three times today to do these things and none of it was done so I am a bit frustrated with that but it’s not something that is killing me.  They really need to hire more help and quickly because apparently Westinghouse (the company that the cafeteria is in) has about 500 more employees moving into the building next week or so.  There are still two more buildings being worked on and within the next year those will also be full with a  total of around 3600 people or something crazy like that.  Right now there are about 25 people working for the company that I work for…it’s not enough.  So, I’m sure that things will get crazier but it’s okay!

So, I am keeping my head above water so far….but football starts in 3 weeks and that means adding 2 hour practices fives days a week and then school starts so add in homework help time, dance, girl scouts and just the chaos that is the school year!

Well, off to the gym for my hip hop class!!!  I am tired!  I think it will take me another week to really get the hang of the routine!

Wow.. You are one busy woman. I think you are doing an awesome job. Just hang in there! And good idea on the laundry schedule. There is no schedule in my house and even though it is just hubby, me and baby.. I think we are going to have to adopt one soon!

I’m glad to hear things are going well! I hope you adjust to the new schedule, I’m sure it will take a few weeks. Sounds like things are still new over there at the new job so it will probably take them a while to get into the swing of things too :)
