Grin and Bear it
Today I had a dental appointment to get three fillings, but ended up needing only two! Yay
I’ve gotten five fillings within the past month and a half. It’s not really a big deal for me because I don’t really mind getting dental work done. I did have to get a front bottom tooth fixed and it looks great, the dentist did a fabulous job! The downside to the dental work today was the pain afterward, my entire jaw was very sore. Also? My tongue is still slightly numb…it feels like it does when you burn your tongue but it is a little more numb. It sucks and I’m hoping that it goes away very soon.
One thing that I did ask my dentist a few months ago was about ways to “fix” my front teeth. My one front tooth is dark due to damaging it when I hit it on the side of the bathtub when I was younger. Unfortunately bleaching will not work to lighten it and in fact, it will continue to get darker over the years. This is a bummer for me because I am always smiling.
In high school, during our senior year, I got voted “best smile” not so much because I had perfect teeth but because I was always smiling…at least that’s what people told me.
So….I asked about porcelain veneers but the dentist told me that because of the dark tooth, it would not be a great option in my situation. Because they use a “stump” of your tooth, the darkness would still show through the veneer and it would not resolve my issue. However, he told me that another option for me would be to get a cap on that tooth and the darker color does not show through and the cap lasts much longer than a veneer. I would have to get both front teeth capped though so that they match.
I cannot tell you how happy this made me. There are actual options for me and one would really work well for me! The important detail I wanted to know about was the insurance…would it cover any of the procedure? I asked the lady at the front desk and she said that insurance would cover it but with all the fillings I’ve had to get, I do not have enough benefit in my plan to cover it all right now. I am going to wait and hope that I don’t need anymore dental work so that my benefit amount builds up and I can get the caps done.
This is a dream for me. I have always hated my front teeth and I just imagine how much this will help my self confidence. I am hoping to have this done in the next year or two. I am excited about it!
Can’t wait to have white, shiny front teeth!

My dental wishlist? Braces.I never had them as a kid. My bottom teeth are a bit crowded and I just overall hate the positioning with the top teeth. It’s not all bad, but it’s a personal thing,I guess. No one else understands why I want them.
But I just want super straight teeth like everyone else….
Dan has super straight teeth. And the jerk never even had braces. WTF?
