Making Plans
I have never been to the Outer Banks. I know several people who have and say how fantastic it is. I have been online researching, looking up and writing down several places I’d like to go and see.
I am wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions, places that we just have to go while there, things to do? All the things have to be kid friendly though since we will have our kids with us. We do have one evening where we will be going out while the family watches our kids so we are up for suggestions on nightlife!
I am so looking forward to this vacation and since this is the kids first vacation, I want it to be fun and memorable.
Also, some good news, we are probably going to wait until 6am to leave instead of 4am! Yay for that extra two hours…not that I will be able to sleep from the excitement!!

George and I honeymooned there – we spent most of our time on the beach, but we went to see Whalehead (which I saw Jen mentioned to you already), drove down to Kitty Hawk to see the Wright Brothers Memorial, and another day we went down to Roanoke Island (they have an aquarium, Elizabethan Gardens, and historic settlement site). But I bet you’ll still spend most of your time on the beach.
Do the kids like flying kites? I always saw tons of people flying kites there and it looked like fun!

thanks Melissa, we do have some of those places on our list. I am still on the fence about whether or not to try to do as much as possible or just do a few things and relax for the week! It’s hard with the kids because I want them to get the most out of this.

We used to live in the Norfolk area and never went to OBX. Are you going to get one of those stickers for your car’s back window? *LOL* We saw A LOT of those when we lived there! I would like to see where the Wright brothers took flight, hubby is from Ohio.

We probably will get one of the OBX stickers…just to say we’ve been there, don’t know if we’ll actually put it on the cars! I am hoping to go to Kittyhawk to see the Wright Brothers Museum but I don’t know if we will.
