Good Thing We Have Hot Cocoa
I noticed on the weather report yesterday that they were calling for some snow in our area. I didn’t pay too much attention though because I looked online this afternoon and discovered that we are supposed to get 6 to 10 inches by tomorrow evening! We haven’t gotten that much snowfall at one time for a very long time.
The kids are excited for the snow, they are really hoping for some sled riding snow! I can’t remember if they even got to go sled riding last year. I think they did but not much. We haven’t had a winter with lots of snow for a few years. It seems like every year we get less and less snow. Lincoln has never played in the snow but I bought him snowpants and snowboots back in October! He is mesmerized by the snow on the car and in my hair so I think he will enjoy actually playing in it! He’s a maniac too so he will enjoy sled riding.
Every single time the weather people predict snowfall, the grocery stores are packed with people stocking up on milk, bread and eggs. I wanted to head to the store for milk before the roads got too snow covered and so I made a short list of other things we could use….milk, bread and eggs! Good gosh, I looked like all the other people that panic at the forecast of snow! I made sure to buy other things while I was there so I wouldn’t look too foolish. When I went to grab a loaf of bread there was only two loaves left!! That is insane, people! This is western PA…of course we are getting snow! This is not new to us, we have been here before.
I am thinking that Chuckie’s basketball game will be cancelled tomorrow though. His game isn’t until 2pm but they are going to decide on the cancellations about 2 hours before the first games. At that time, the weather could be ugly and the roads bad. He has practice tonight but he doesn’t really feel like going and neither do I so we are skipping out on practice. I was torn because I always tell him that we are committed to the sport that he signed up to and we go to all the practices but on the other hand, it is cold and snowing….and I have all three kids with me. I let him slide for tonight but from here on out, he’s going to all practices.
I am finally feeling better. My sinuses are still kind of clogged and I have to blow my nose every so often but nothing like earlier this week! I am thinking that by Monday, I will be ready to start working out again. I am excited for that and the classes I plan on taking! I missed working out and thought about it daily. Thank goodness that I haven’t gone crazy with my eating. I haven’t been able to chew my food and breathe at the same time so I greatly reduced my eating! That should have been sort of helpful during my absence from exercise! We’ll see the next time I am able to weigh myself though. I’m shooting for Monday as my comeback day…keeping my fingers crossed.
My plans for this weekend, other than the basketball game that may be cancelled….only sled riding and playing in the snow with my kids! Hopefully we can get the husband to come out and play too or he can just take the pictures! The best part of playing in the snow? The hot cocoa when we come in!!!
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Oh, I know, people act like that over here in NE Ohio too, and it drives me crazy! They hear the “S” word on the weather report, and they’re out stocking up as if we’re going to be buried for months. I just try to stay away from the stores if I can help it!
Anyway, you’re right about the cocoa being the best part of snowy days!
