Worn out
My family is so worn out that we are getting out of bed around 10am everyday now! Christmas really kicked our butts.
First, I have to say that I didn’t get to weigh myself on Wednesday because I didn’t go to the gym and I don’t have a scale. I don’t know if I’ve lost more weight but I can say that my clothes are fitting much better and I can feel less of me. I pinch my sides and there is less chub in my hands! A very scientific system I have going huh?! So, while I don’t know my exact weight for the weigh-in, I know that there is a slight difference and it is very motivating for me!
Now, on to the holiday wrap up!
Wednesday, I started the day by going shopping for last minute gifts and groceries for our Christmas breakfast at our house. The store was packed and I was there for nearly two hours! When I got home, everyone was watching a movie and I actually laid down to take a nap!
We had our Christmas celebration with Chuck’s side of the family at his parents’ house. Everything was going well, we all ate and I even had a chance to sit down and talk to people. Lincoln was hamming it up for everyone, dancing, getting his picture taken, stealing everyone’s food. I was sitting right there. Then, he was running into the living room, tripped and did a face first leap into the entertainment center. He hit his forehead right on the corner of the shelf. He was still on his hands and knees crying when I picked him up. I didn’t even look at him, I just hugged him and rubbed his back when someone said, “I think he’s bleeding.” Someone else said, “oh yeah, he’s bleeding!” I looked at him and that’s when the blood starting pouring down his face from his forehead. I just casually walked him to the kitchen and turned on the water. My mother-in-law handed me a towel and I began trying to wipe the blood from his face and try to stop the bleeding. When I got the chance to really look at the cut, I realized that it was going to need some stitches. It was a really deep and wide cut. So, on Christmas eve around 7pm, Chuck and I were heading to the ER with Lincoln. He wasn’t crying and in fact, he stopped crying about two minutes after he hit his head. He’s a tough guy apparently!
He ended up getting two stitches and Chuck and I had to hold him down. It wasn’t hard to do but he is really strong and he hates to be held in any position that he doesn’t like and so he was mad and frustrated. The screaming gave me an instant headache. I was fine for the entire procedure and I even watched as the doctor stitched him up. I was feeling a bit woozy the entire time but I figured it was because I was watching my poor baby being stitched up. As the doctor was putting on the bandages, my wooziness got much worse. I know that feeling. I was either going to throw up or pass out. I told Chuck to grab his hands because I needed to sit. I sat in the chair right there and put my head between my legs. They asked if I was okay and I told them that I was fine but I was going to be passing out soon. I’m so helpful! No diagnosis needed!
The nurse walked me across the hall to lay down on the bed. I laid there laughing at myself. The nurse put a wet washcloth on my forehead. She gave me juice and crackers and I felt better. I just kept laughing and feeling really stupid. Oh well, more excitement for our day I guess.
By the time we left the ER, it was after 9pm and I was tired. I was just thinking of all the things that needed done before bedtime!
When we got home, the kids were able to open one gift….their matching pajamas! This year I was able to get them all matching pajamas. I took pictures and soon I will have them up at Flickr….hopefully!
Thursday, Christmas Day! We ended up waking the kids up at 7:30 because we had everyone coming to our house at 10am and we needed to clean! They were excited and they enjoyed all of their gifts. Lincoln was the slowest gift opener ever! Chuck was shocked to see the Lamar Woodley throwback jersey I got him! He had no clue and was so happy. I asked for a watch and an MP3 player and that’s what I got! I’m happy. Chuckie got me jewelry like he does every year at the school holiday shop. I got a turtle necklace, it’s cute. Jada got me cow salt and pepper shakers….so random but they are cute! She was upset because she thought that they were the bear ones but they were cows. No problem, they are already on display on the stove.
The family came over and we had breakfast, laughed and talked, then opened gifts. It was really nice to all just hang out and chill. It was relaxing. Chuck’s parents come over for this breakfast too so it’s nice to have both sides there to spend time with. Our parents get along well so there is no weird tension between anyone like some families may have.
Later in the afternoon, after everyone had left and we had a chance to just sit around, we headed over to my sister-in-law’s house for more family/relaxing time. The men were downstairs watching basketball and the women and children were upstairs watching a movie. Lincoln had a chance to play with another little cousin who is three months younger than him. It was so cute. They were rolling the ball to each other and crawling with each other all over the house. Chuckie received some old Pokemon cards from his older cousin who is in college so that was very exciting for him. He was quiet and occupied for the rest of the evening!
Those two days really exhausted us and we have not woken up before 9:30am since! The boys just woke up at 11am today! Going back to school is going to be hard!
I hope everyone had a nice holiday, ours was filled with family, love and excitement.
