My only political post
Don’t worry I’m not going to post about who I am backing and who I want to be the next president or why. I do not discuss politics.
On Saturday morning the kids and I were in the car on our way to Chuckie’s football game. Jada was telling us how they had a mock election in her classroom to see who the kids would vote for and who would win the election if it were up to them. In her class, Barack Obama won.
Jada asked me who I was voting for and I told her that I didn’t know because I didn’t want her to form an opinion from what I would say. I asked her who she voted for and she said, “Barack Obama” I asked her why and she said she voted for him because that is who everyone else was voting for.
Chuckie in his infinite wisdom said to her, “Jada, you don’t vote for someone because everyone else is, you have to have your own opinion and do things because you want to. You can’t follow what everyone else is doing. If you believe something you do it but don’t do it to just follow everyone else.”
Where he got this from, I don’t know but he did make me stop to think about it. I know several people who listen to the opinions of others and just go with what those people are doing. They aren’t taking the time to do their own research and form their own opinions but rather trusting what others are doing.
We all know that this is a huge election and there will be history made on November 4th. I don’t need to repeat it over and over, the media is already doing that. I just thought it was interesting to see how an 8 year old viewed it. My son, he’s a bright one!

That is so cool that he said that. What a great kid! Good job Mama

I’m sure his wisdom came from his wise parents.
It’s amazing to see the good that comes from a child following an open-minded example!
